Oddquine's Moray in Words and Pictures

Sueno's Stone, Forres

Sueno's Stone probably dates from around 3000BC, with the carvings added at the time of the Picts around the 9th Century. At 20ft, it is one of the tallest surviving Pictish Stones in Scotland. It appears to commemorate a battle, but which one nobody knows.
While this picture shows the Stone open to the elements,it is now protected for posterity by a glass cabinet to preserve the carvings which are being eroded by the effects of the weather.
